TUBING THE YAMPA RIVER
TUBING TIPS
Check the river flow to see if it is at a safe level for tubing. Water levels above 700 cubic feet per second are not safe for tubing.
Water levels under 700 cubic feet per second may still not be safe for those who are not strong swimmers.
Be sure to share with the outfitter your comfort level in water.
Life jackets are always recommended, especially when the river is at a high water level; small children should wear a life vest at any water level. Wear shoes with straps (not flip-flops) and a swimsuit or clothing.
Be aware of what you bring with you; you may tip over and lose gear. Respect other tubers, people walking along the core trail, and fishermen. Leave no garbage behind. Please take everything you bring with you out with you. Help us keep the Yampa River beautiful! NO alcohol, dogs, or glass.
Tubing outfitters offer rentals and shuttle rides for the easiest, most enjoyable tubing experience
All tubing outfitters have a set number of tubes allocated for each particular day of the week. When they reach that quota they can no longer provide tubing service.

Saddleback Ranch is a real 4th Generation working cattle ranch located in Northern Colorado, only 17 miles from scenic Steamboat Springs. The immense 8000-acre ranch is owned and run by three Iacovetto families. A horseback ride is the perfect opportunity to enjoy some beautiful scenery, take some gorgeous pictures, and learn about the Steamboat Springs ranching heritage and the cows and calves. There is excellent chance of seeing wildlife.
-Cattle Drives
Spend the morning with Saddleback Ranch as we move cattle, check for sickness, get in strays and make sure that everything on the ranch is doing well. Saddleback Ranch cattle drives rides are unique in the way that they are not “nose to tail” trail rides, nothing here is "staged" and day to day tasks do vary.
Cattle drives are a time where you can get back to life's essentials, the horse riding pace on cattle drives is usually slow, that’s what makes a cattle drive a wonderful experience, time to gain respect for these animals and learn a little about yourself in the process, maybe make a four legged friend or two.
-Wagon Dinner Rides
Your choice of taking a 30-minute horseback or horse-drawn wagon ride to our new Double Dollar Lodge. When you arrive at the lodge you will be welcomed with cold drinks and given a chance to take in the scenery before dinner. After dinner take a chance and let us teach you how to calf rope. At the end of the evening you will enjoy the ride home viewing the beautiful Colorado sunset from the wagon or on horseback.
